Week 3

Pictures of the week

This week i went to Chinatown, is not a place i'll usually go on a regular day. I mostly visit it during Chinese New Year time with my family for Dim Sum and to feel the atmosphere when its crowded with people and Chinese New Year goods. This time its different, not only i'm alone it was pretty empty. There was this shop selling lanterns which i used to play with every lantern festival downstairs with neighbourhood friends and we would have a competition on who has the coolest lantern that year, and it made me miss being young so much because now lantern festival is just another regular day. I also get to see how the shop are on a regular day and not the glam up for Chinese New Year atmosphere, some shop hasn't been renovated since 1950's and i hope it stay that way so the future generation can see how the past was.

See Think Wonder

We did a group project on See, Think and Wonder on Light Bulb,  we had so much idea on See after we listed it all out we proceed to writing down on the paper and from there ideas kept flowing it was really fun and amazing to see how light bulb can lead to so many other things.

Ted Talk

Where good ideas come from? Steven the one who gave the speech took a picture of the Grand Cafe in Oxford, which turn out to be the first coffee house in England in the 1650. He talk about how coffeehouse play such a big role in the birth of Enlightenment because of what they were drinking back then. Before the spread of coffee and tea, people drank  alittle alcohol and wine for beakfast, lunch and dinner it says to help have better idea through out the day. There was this man called Timothy Prestero who has a company called Design That Matters. Timothy and his team decide to  see what are the resourcesin these developing world world contexts and notice they dont have a lot of DVRs or alot of mirowaves but they seem to do a good job on keeping their cars on the road. They start to think that they could build a neonatal incubator out of automobile parts. We take ideas from others and people who we learn from and stitch it into something new, thats when innovation happens.
